Parallax Propeller Book - Preface
MIROX Corporation has no connection with PARALLAX Inc, which is based in Rocklin, California, USA; the producer of the Parallax Propeller microcontroller chip.
This On-Line available e-book in HTML5 format is authored by Miro Kefurt, who is the CEO of MIROX Corporation.
This e-book assumes that you have just acquired Propeller microcontroller made by PARALLAX, (www.parallax.com) and you really do not have any clue what to do with it just yet.
While several books are available from PARALLAX, and I have read them all, I have found out that they are not exactly step by step manuals, and that lot of learning is necessary to master the potential of the Propeller.
Also I have found out that some of the books were written way back in 2009 or even earlier and refer to products and web links that are no longer available.
I have also found out that the published Spin code sometimes has "bugs" and does not really function as intended or described in the accompanying text.
This of course is very frustrating to a novice that is learning entirely new programmin language like Spin, that controlls unique device like Propeller.
It is my intent to keep this e-book up to date and use only the products that I know are currently available either from PARALLAX (www.parallax.com) or OKA AUTO USA division of MIROX Corporation (www.okaauto.com) or components suppliers like DigiKey (www.digikey.com), Mouser (www.mouser.com) or AVNET (www.avnet.com).
I have decided to distill most of the information available in various books and application notes to a simple step by step manual, with easy to do and follow tutorials and projects, that one can use with no previous experience in programming.
Some understanding of electronic circuits and components is necessary to set up the “experiments” and to follow the programmable functions.
Where appropriate, links to the original documents from which some of the information was sourced will be provided.
Copies of the original documents are archived on www.mirox.us website and the links are provided in the e-book text.
